Combine a wonderful winter walk with a celebration of snowdrops this weekend, including:
Specialist nurseries selling more unusual snowdrops (Elworthy Cottage Plants on Saturday and Avon Bulbs on Sunday)
Free guided walks with Rosemoor staff (11.30am on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday) to see the drifts of snowdrops and other early spring favourites.
An illustrated talk on ‘Snowdrops in the Wild’ by Bob and Rannveig Wallis (2pm on Saturday and 11.30am on Sunday).
Local paper artist Wendy Moray-Jones will also be here on both days with free, hands-on drop-in workshops making perfectly life-like snowdrops from crepe paper.
Snowdrops are a major feature of the Winter Garden, lower borders and near the Lake at Rosemoor, often featuring under the red stems of Salix alba ‘Britzensis’ and Cornus alba ‘Sibirica’ AGM. Other planting partners for the snowdrops include Carex morrowii ‘Fisher’s Form’ and Acorus gramineus ‘Variegatus’.
