Devon artist Hannah Oram to capture the changing seasons at RHS Garden Rosemoor this winter

Visitors are invited to watch, meet and paint alongside RHS Garden Rosemoor’s new Artist in Residence, Hannah Oram, as she creates new work inspired by the garden.

Devon-based contemporary artist Hannah Oram is joining RHS Garden Rosemoor as Artist in Residence, creating a series of vibrant paintings inspired by the garden and its changing seasons.

From Tuesday 22 September 2026 until the end of February 2027, Hannah will spend Tuesdays painting in different locations around Rosemoor, drawing inspiration from its extraordinary variety of plants, landscapes and seasonal colour.

Known for her expressive acrylic paintings, Hannah celebrates the colour, energy and poetry found in everyday life. Gardens and growing are a particular source of inspiration, from flowers in bloom and abundant fruit and vegetables to the shapes, colours and textures of foliage.

 Hannah said:

“I’m super excited to be given this opportunity and have a chance to do more painting ‘en plein air’ at RHS Rosemoor. I really enjoy working around other people, I can feel other people’s energy and this builds to something really vibrant and lovely. I look forward to joining our energies together to reflect this wonderful place.”

Visitors will be able to find Hannah painting in the garden on Tuesdays from 10.30am–2.30pm, excluding school holidays. Rather than formal demonstrations, the sessions will offer an informal opportunity to see an artist at work, stop for a conversation and discover how a painting develops from the landscape.

Visitors are also encouraged to bring a sketchbook, pencils or paints and create alongside Hannah, finding their own favourite view of Rosemoor to capture.

An evolving exhibition of Hannah’s work will run alongside the residency in the gardens Exhibition Room. The display will begin with a selection of her existing paintings, with new Rosemoor-inspired works appearing as they are created during her time in the garden. Her original works will be available to purchase.

Chloë Uden, Programming Manager at RHS Garden Rosemoor, said:

“Garden’s are living works of art and are such great places for contemplation, inspiration and play as well as fresh air and new perspectives. We wanted Hannah’s residency to give visitors a chance not only to see an artist responding to Rosemoor, but to feel that creativity is something they can take part in too.

“You don’t have to think of yourself as an artist. Bring a sketchbook, find somewhere that catches your eye and have a go. We hope Hannah will inspire people to pause and experience the garden in a different way.”
