This years’ theme is Hobbies & Pastimes

How long does it take to complete the Scarecrow Trail?
On average, a couple of hours at a slow - steady pace. It can take longer if you stop for lunch or ice creams on route!

What ages is the Trail suitable for?
All ages!

How much does it cost?
Trail sheets cost £5 each; one per family/group is fine if everyone is happy to share!

Where does the Trail start?
Start at the Play Area outside Mortehoe Museum (located in the Village Car Park). You can also start at North Morte Farm campsite.

Where does the Trail end?
The Trail ends at the Play Area outside Mortehoe Museum. Hand your sheet in for marking – all correct entries are entered in to a prize draw, where you can win one of 5 £25 vouchers. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite scarecrow once you have completed the Trail - don’t worry, you don’t have to agree, everyone in your family/group is eligible to vote! We have a special voting system … choose a shell from our collection, and drop it in to the jam jar labelled with your favourite scarecrow! The top 3 scarecrow makers also win a prize!

Are refreshments available?
There will be a BBQ in the Play Area each day – times to be confirmed (also weather dependant!) Mortehoe WI will also be selling delicious homemade cakes there each day. In addition to this, there are plenty of options for food and drink around the Trail, including Town Farmhouse, The Chichester Arms, North Morte Farm Store, and Mortehoe Post Office.

What else will be happening during the event?
There will be a small selection of stalls selling local crafts, gifts, books, plants, cakes, etc, and there will be a Tombola in aid of the North Devon Hospice on 2 of the days.

Are card payments accepted?
Please bring cash wherever possible, although we do have an arrangement with Mortehoe Museum to use their card facility if required.

The Trail is mostly accessible, with the exception of the Church, which has some steps up to it. Easier access is from the Chichester Arms Car Park, although this does still involve some steps.

Where can I park?
You can park in Mortehoe Village Car Par (Pay & Display). We also have an overflow car park at the back of the pay and display car park, which costs £3 for the day. The overflow car park is locked at 5pm – all cars must be removed before this time.

Can I visit the Museum during the Festival?
Yes! The Museum will be open each day, and is free to go in (although donations are always welcome!)
