Docton Mill Gardens and Tea-Rooms is a family run business and is owned by Lana and John Borrett who have been at Docton for 15years, supported by their children and expanding family. Since our arrival at Docton in March 2000 we have greatly expanded the gardens to increase the variety of planting and enjoyment for visitors.
The gardens surround the watercourses which form a spine through the gardens being on a site of 9 acres. What makes it even more special is our location being 1500M from the wild Atlantic coast in the truly magical Spekes Valley, which offers a unique microclimate for plants.
The opening of the garden coincides with the display of narcissi, some 20,000, which are found throughout the borders. Variety in planting through the differing areas, bog-garden, woodland garden, waterfall garden, summer garden, herbaceous borders and stream garden give interest right through the gardening season.
We encourage people to walk the 1500M to the coast to view the fantastic waterfall at Spekes Mill Mouth and watch it cascading into the Atlantic Ocean. Please bring wellies for the walk.
The Tea Rooms
The award winning tea-rooms which surrounds the garden terrace and Mill House dates back to 1249 and is open daily.
